  • Richmond location, Wurundjeri Country (Office based for 2 payroll days per fortnight essential, remainder hybrid environment)
  • 2 x Part time neg, fixed term position (parental leave cover)
  • 1 x Payroll specific and 1 x HR/Payroll Officer combined
  • Base salary starts at $85K (pro rata) plus super and salary packaging

The Opportunity

The HR Payroll Officer will have a key role within the HR Operations team, ensuring the efficient and accurate running of the fortnightly payrolls as well as administering and maintaining the payroll system and responding to employee queries with support and supervision. The position will be a conduit across both the HR Support and Payroll teams ensuring employment changes and information flows consistently and accurately between the two.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient and accurate running   of the fortnightly payrolls
  • Write contracts and letters of change for employees
  • Run associated reports and complete calculations
  • Maintain and administer the payroll system (iChris & EmpLive).
  • Respond to enquiries and helpdesk in a timely manner
  •  Follow up on changes to employment and contracts

About You

  • Preferably previous solid experience with payroll functions, including superannuation, general ledger, and chart of accounts
  • Confident with computerised payroll and rostering systems, ideally iChris.
  • Strong understanding and experience with award interpretation and application of entitlements
  • Enthusiasm for change and ability to help refine systems and workflows.
  • A genuine desire to support our employees so they in turn, can provide the best outcomes for the children and young people that Berry Street supports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including working well within a team and the ability to network and build relationships with stakeholders and other regions.
