The Opportunity

As Manager Payroll, Systems and Reporting, you’ll lead a team of Payroll Officers, ensuring the seamless, precise delivery of our fortnightly payroll. Beyond payroll processing, you’ll have the chance to streamline our procedures, uphold audit standards, and implement essential checks and balances that ensure data integrity across our systems. You’ll be hands-on with payroll software, particularly iChris, have a passion for systems and reporting and will continually seek new ways to optimise and enhance our workflows and processes.

  • Full-time, Permanent role (will consider 0.8 FTE)
  • Base salary $127K plus super and salary packaging (pro rata).

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for our fortnightly cycles, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to meet business needs.
  • Lead, mentor and support the payroll team and function, ensuring adherence to Payroll legislative standards and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake complex enquiries, calculations, overpayment procedures and audit reporting in conjunction with the Finance department.
  • Drive best practices by continuously improving our HR/payroll processes, systems (iChris & Emplive), and standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a key liaison for HR Systems projects and provide payroll and HR advice across the organisation.
  • Conduct audits and lead improvements to maintain the highest standards of payroll accuracy and data integrity.

  • You have a strong track record of leading a payroll team in a large organisation (1500+ employees) handling end-to-end payroll processes with precision and efficiency.
  • You’re comfortable navigating payroll systems like iChris or Chris21, with the skills to create insightful reports, troubleshoot, and make system enhancements.
  • Have a leadership style that builds trust, fosters a collaborative team environment, and motivates everyone to excel.
  • Passion for creating a positive, inclusive team culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • You’re always on the lookout for ways to improve processes, streamline operations, and bring innovative ideas to the table!
