The Teaching Family Model is a trauma-informed model of out-of-home care which provides dedicated, specialised support in a family-style setting for children and young people whose significant trauma means they’re unable to benefit from more traditional models. In TFM children and young people learn new behaviours by observing and imitating others.
TFM is based on social learning theory and focuses on building strengths, problem-solving and interpersonal and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
The Primary objectives of this role are to:
- Ensure the Teaching Family Model is implemented in line with the Teaching Family Associations Standards
- Support the sustainability and continuous improvement of the four TFM Systems: Consultation, Evaluation, Facilitative Administration and Training. Including delivering training, completing staff evaluations to support the ongoing development and growth of TFM implementation.
- Support the implementation of new TFM homes across Berry Street.
- Maintain TFM Databases required for sustaining Teaching Family Association Accreditation.
The Program Manager is part of the Teaching Family leadership team and will work closely with all regions to lead and implement the Teaching Family Model.
Your Skills and Experience:
Our preferred candidate will have experience working at the Team Leader level and above and will hold a Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or associated human service field and the following desired experience:
- Experience and knowledge in delivering an Evidence Based Model.
- Formal qualification in Training or Management.
- Experience and knowledge of TFM integrated systems; Facilitative Administration Evaluation, Training and Consultation.
