The South Eastern Case Management Services (SECMS) is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to provide intensive support and case management to children and young people on statutory Child Protection orders. The SECMS team plays a critical role in supporting them to reach their full potential.


The Opportunity

  • Full time, Permanent role on Boonwurrung Country
  • $106k + Super + Salary Packing
  • This role has a full private use vehicle

The role will focus on the provision of intensive levels of support and case management to young people aged 12 –18 who are most “at risk” in the community. These young people are subject to statutory orders either with Child Protection or Youth Justice, and Berry Street provides the contracted case management in accordance with case planning and Children’s Court directions.

Primary objectives and responsibilities include:

  • Providing contracted case management of children and young people (generally clients on statutory protective orders) in accordance with Children’s Court directions.
  • Assisting children, young people and their families to minimise risk and gain stability.
  • Promoting the maintenance of the child and/or young person with their family, extended family and other support networks.
  • Developing stakeholder relationships within the community and be an effective advocate
  • Supporting the Team Leader to oversee program function and staff oversight, including case direction, audits and attending meetings where required.

About You

  • A Bachelor level qualification in Youth Work, Social Work or relevant field.
  • An established case manager with the ability to provide leadership and support to other team members
  • A comprehensive understanding of the statutory out of home care system and issues related to the support needs of young people. 
  • Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage competing priorities and stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels and practising and promoting self-care strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
