The Opportunity

The Crisis Accommodation Coordinator is a unique position and is required to integrate and provide support to Hub Practitioners of any partner agency in The Orange Door which includes practitioners and leaders from Child Protection, Child Wellbeing (Child First), Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Perpetrator services. It holds key relationships with the Practice Leadership group, particularly regarding brokerage, legislative requirements and external agency interfaces. 

This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with providers of Emergency Accommodation in the North Eastern Melbourne Area (NEMA).  It plays a pivotal role in upholding a feminist framework, trauma informed and child development approach, including family violence risk assessment. Building upon these frameworks, a strong understanding of the local and state-wide Family Violence service sector is essential.

The focus of the Crisis Accommodation Coordinator role is to:

  • Hold portfolio of Crisis Accommodation within The Orange Door, (be a key contact to Hub Practitioners and provide consultation on this referral option and coordinate access to emergency accommodation and related support services)
  • Hold portfolio of Family Violence Case Management consults and referrals, including CRM requirements
  • Act as key TOD contact point for Berry Street SFV Crisis Response Team and Case Management partnership
  • Work effectively with key stakeholders to coordinate the pathways for clients in and out of emergency accommodation 
  • On behalf of The Orange Door, provide a point of liaison for key crisis response stakeholders including Safe Steps and accommodation providers
  • Support Hub Practitioners to identify alternative referral pathways for clients where Crisis Accommodation is not suitable.

About You

  • You will hold a minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with Recommendation 209's minimum mandatory qualification requirements.   • Advanced practice experience working with multiple and complex needs associated with intersectional issues in current practice with family violence referrals.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple stakeholders needs to achieve outcomes for people experiencing family violence.
