Who are we looking for?

As Tenancy Behaviour and Complaints Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring our tenants live in a safe and supportive environment by managing and resolving complaints related to anti-social behaviour and other issues.

Strong negotiation and rapport-building skills are essential, along with the ability to de-escalate situations. You'll need to have demonstrated experience in delivering tenancy support services, handling complex conflict resolution and mediation with a strong solutions focus.

We're looking for someone with experience in a similar community-based role, and having a Certificate IV in Community Services, Social Housing, or a related field would be a bonus. 

What can you expect to be doing?

You'll be providing comprehensive support, maintaining strong relationships with relevant agencies, and protecting tenants' rights and well-being to foster a positive community atmosphere.

  • Manage and resolve anti-social behaviour, nuisance, harassment, and general complaints by adopting an outcome-centred approach.
  • Ensure tenants receive timely and effective resolutions, making their living environment safer and more comfortable.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into complaints by interviewing victims, perpetrators, and witnesses, gathering all relevant facts comprehensively to ensure fair and just resolutions.
  • Handle complex case referrals, ensuring all actions align with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop comprehensive complaint resolution plans and lead necessary actions to ensure fair outcomes for tenants.
  • Conduct risk assessments for each case and document findings and actions according to policy and procedure.
  • Identify and manage risks proactively to ensure the safety and well-being of all tenants, who benefit from knowing their safety is a priority.
  • Regularly communicate with tenants, victims, and witnesses of anti-social behaviour. Keep them updated of the progress of their complaints and offer assistance as needed to ensure they feel supported and valued.       

What do you need to bring?

  • Previous related experience in a similar role within a Community based role is desired.
  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Social Housing or similar would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in: delivering high quality and effective tenancy support services; complex conflict resolution and mediation; managing behaviours; and applying a strength based approach to empowerment.
  • Skilled at applying de-escalation strategies and techniques and strong solution focus.
  • High developed negotiation and rapport building skills.
  • Proven effective time management skills with strong prioritisation, organisation and multi-talking abilities.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software, including databases, MS Office (Word, MS, Excel) internet and outlook.
