As the R&D Innovation Manager you will serve as the innovation architect for the ANZ Category Teams. You will collaborate with category teams to define and deliver the innovation pipeline, taking full responsibility for all R&D development requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate resources across the R&D system to ensure successful delivery of the innovation pipeline and category team goals. You will also play a key role in co-creating the innovation strategy, drawing from consumer insights, scientific knowledge, and growth opportunities.

Innovation:

  • Owns the product innovation strategy together with the category team leader.
  • Architects the innovation strategy for the ANZ Category Teams, defining and accessing the capabilities needed to deliver the pipeline including working closely with the global technical community, external partners, local commercial team and matrixed functions.
  • Ideates around claims, new products and licensable hardware to maintain a sufficient pipeline of innovation that satisfies consumer and customer needs – grounded in medical and consumer insights.​
  • Develops scientific insight and initiates new innovation projects together with the category teams, always seeking opportunities for scale across the globe.

 Delivery:

  •  Initiates projects to build a best-in-class pipeline, driving execution of approved projects​.
  • Delivers their innovation pipeline end-to-end - effectively leveraging the global R&D squads and external partnerships.
  • Prioritizes and makes decisions in partnership with their category teams and enterprise Category squads on pipeline, resources, and budget.

 Consumer/Customer:

  • Knows the consumer, customers, market, category and competitive landscape to deliver advantage​.
  • Knows the science of the category, current solutions and their shortcomings and unmet medical needs.
  • Uses scientific storytelling to bring innovation to life for both internal stakeholders and consumers/customers.

Does this sound like you?

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a STEM related field.
  • A proven track record of delivering consumer inspired and science-based innovation (products, claims & services) in the Consumer Health or Consumer Goods Industry from ideation to launch.

Preferred:

  • Significant experience in Consumer Health / FMCG innovation (10+ years’ experience (or Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 6+ years).
  • Passion for Consumer inspired innovation and understanding of market dynamics in ANZ.
  • A creative mind who comes up with compelling ideas for innovation.
  • Technical capabilities to convert marketing concepts to products that are grounded in science, meet the medical and consumer needs and are differentiated vs competition.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including managing conflict, building psychological safety, challenging status quo, and willingness to stand up for beliefs.
  • Ability to work with and influence all levels in the organization.
  • Is curious; willing to test and learn and foster an environment of innovation.
  • Experience in delivering results through others in an ambiguous and matrixed environment.
  • Ability to lead a team through all the necessary steps of project scoping, assessing feasibility and initiation of development. A doer who can plan and execute the plan.
