Derrickman

We are looking for Expressions of Interest from Derrickman, or Motorman who have the current skill sets or are ready to step up to the next level of responsibility. The successful candidates will need a minimum of 4 yrs Rig experience on mobile land based drilling units. Your primarily responsible will be working all aspects of the Derrick's role and assisting Mud Engineers with the production and maintenance of drilling fluid systems. You will also supervise and direct subordinate crew members in general rig floor operations such as tripping drill pipe, drill collars, the assembly of down hole tools along with other roles such as running casing and assisting in well testing activities. Being able to work a manual Derrick will be an advantage, running collars and drill pipe while working at height. The point of hire will be Toowoomba QLD with site location unconfirmed as yet.

General Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain mud systems, including prepare and test all mud circulating equipment

• Maintain and monitor mud pumps and associated equipment, and monitor mud volume, mud properties, and mud pit level to accurately advise the Driller of losses or gains.

• Operate drilling mud systems and pumps during drilling, and mix mud chemicals and additives.

• Operate and maintain drilling rig diesel motors, transmissions and other mechanical equipment.

• Clean and inspect mud tanks as required.

• Assist on rig floor as required.

• Watch and maintain proper fluid characteristics, and rate of fluid circulation.

• Work above the drilling floor, on the monkey board, guiding the pipe during the tripping in/tripping out process, ensuring all PPE requirements are met.

• Assist in moving the rig, rigging up and rigging out.

• Ensure that preventative maintenance is performed on equipment as outlined in maintenance manual.

Essential Qualifications

• IWCF Level 2 (IWCF Driller Level 3 an advantage)

• Certificate Ill in Drilling Oil/Gas (on shore) (Certificate III in Well Servicing an advantage)

• Industry Safety Induction (ISI) Safer Together

• Undertake First Response to Fire

• Operate Breathing Apparatus

• Apply First Aid (including CPR)

• Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

• Working at Heights

• Permit to Work- Holder (Permit Authority an advantage)

• Operate Vehicles in the Field (4WD)

• Front end loader (as required)

• Current Drivers License
