About the role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in the CBD on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will support the finance team in performing financial accounting functions for the group. In this role, you will:
- Perform operational tasks, including accounts payable, and general ledger journal preparation
- Preparing daily and monthly reconciliations
- Preparing monthly statement and reporting for securitisation trust account
- Preparation of GST/BAS and FBT returns
- Prepare branch/corporate card expenses and reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Create, review and maintain standard operating procedures for all tasks
- Implement new technologies, software and/or documented processes for accounts payable
- Refine and monitor clearing and suspense account controls, compliance and risk management processes.
- Assist with preparation of regulatory returns such as APRA, ASIC, etc
- Assist with preparation of tax returns such as income tax return
- Assist in preparation of monthly accounting, financial and management reports.
- Assist with preparation of annual accounts and audit queries
- Assist in business projects (including implementation of new technologies, e.g. user acceptance testing) and ad-hoc analysis as required
- Assist with providing and receiving cross training on required tasks
- Collaborate with Finance team members and other internal teams
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to change
- Be a key participant in overall Finance software and process upgrades, transformations and migrations, including working with third party consultants
- Keep knowledge of banking, accounting and emerging technologies up to date
About You
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate the below key attributes and experience:
- Advanced Excel and Word skills
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience using ERP/accounting systems
- Some knowledge of SQL and MS Power Query preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Time management and managing multiple deadlines
- Accounting qualification, degree or higher
- CA or CPA Qualification
- Banking/Financial Services industry experience preferred
- Experience in a software upgrade or migration project is an added advantage
