About the role
This is an exciting time to join Tenpin Bowling Australia as we embark on a new chapter of growth and opportunity. We are seeking a visionary CEO to lead us through this transformative phase, driving our mission to new heights. With a clear focus on financial sustainability and strategic expansion, the CEO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our sport across the nation.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the key duties will include:
Financial Leadership:
- Leverage your strong financial acumen to develop and implement robust financial strategies to ensure long-term stability.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure transparent and sound financial management.
Strategic Vision and Implementation:
- Lead the implementation, evolution, and monitoring of TBAs strategic plan.
- Collaborate with the Board to design, develop, and implement strategic plans that aligns with the organisations vision, mission, and values.
Participation Growth:
- Develop and implement strategies to drive participation across all levels, from TBAs participation programs including Bowl Patrol, Sporting Schools, and Bowl Abilities, and develop initiatives to link entry level programs to ongoing junior tenpin bowling participation
- Collaborate with local clubs, schools, and community organisations to enhance access and engagement in sport.
People Leadership:
- Foster a high-performance culture through effective leadership, collaborative mindset, coaching, and development of staff.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing within the organisation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board, staff, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), official partners, and community partners.
- Provide effective and active representation of TBA at all levels by building and enhancing key stakeholder relationships with the internal bodies, government entities, commercial partners, member state associations, and centres.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure the efficient operation of the organisation, optimising resources and processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance organisational effectiveness.
Governance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
- In conjunction with the Board, develop and implement governance structures, policies, and risk management frameworks that drive productivity and performance.
About you
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, traits and experience:
- Proven Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive/GM experience.
- A track record of leading organisations to reach their full potential, supported by strong and supportive culture.
- High level commercial and financial acumen, including the capacity to interpret and report on financial accounts.
- Sound skills in applying risk management principles and understanding the Australian sporting landscape.
- Background in sports administration, including growing participation in a sporting context and growing commercial revenue streams.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, leading the organisation with strong personal presence, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government agencies.
- Honesty and trustworthiness.
- Confidence with change management, transformation, and project delivery.

Position location
Ideally the successful applicant will be based in Queensland or Victoria. The role will require some interstate and may require overseas travel.
