Diving Australia is the peak body for the administration of the Olympic sports of springboard and platform diving (and the newly popular sport of high diving) in Australia.

Off the back of our most successful ‘away’ Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022, DA is now looking to build momentum as we head towards the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the 2026 Victorian Commonwealth Games and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

Approximately 3000 Australians currently participate in diving, from grassroots to the high performance level, either as competitors, officials or coaches. Volunteers make up a large proportion of our dedicated workforce.


The Role

As the CEO you will bring inspirational leadership, renewal, and innovation for DA, creating a clear vision and direction that ensures the effective delivery of strategic and operational plans, and proactive engagement and consultation with key stakeholders.

You will effectively demonstrate an ability to work at a fast pace in a multi-task environment to meet critical deadlines. Further, you will demonstrate drive, professionalism, and integrity, with proven performance in previous leadership roles, possessing a high level of initiative and adaptability, outstanding conceptual, analytical and creative skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage change, guide and mentor staff, motivate teams to achieve shared goals, and achieve results in an environment of change. You will have a passion for sport.

Immediate priorities will include:

  • Finalising and leading implementation of DA’s new strategic plan, including the organisation’s approach to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the 2026 Victorian Commonwealth Games and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games
  • Leading implementation of the recommendations from DA’s recently established Independent Cultural Review
  • Assisting the DA High Diving Committee to develop High Diving as a new and important DA sub-brand.


Targeted Experience

Diving Australia invites a wide range of candidates to consider this exciting leadership opportunity who can successfully demonstrate relevant experience or knowledge in the following key areas:

  • Significant knowledge and applied experience at a senior level within the Australian sport system or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing high performing senior teams to consistently deliver over time.
  • Experience and evidence of developing and implementing strategies that provide competitive advantages to sport through the application of innovative and creative solutions.
  • Understanding of the key levers for high performance delivery to achieve international success.
  • Understanding of and experience in building the sport participation base and providing pathways for athletes, coaches, officials and administrators.
  • Understanding and experience in relation to integrity and inclusion factors, particularly in relation to protecting children and young people from harm, in the context of both participation and high-performance sport.
  • Experience in and aptitude for successfully addressing complex stakeholder management challenges.
  • Experience in strategic reputational communications and engagement.

Position Location

This position will be located in Brisbane with travel to other sites and attendance at key events as the senior representative of Diving Australia.
