Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Relationship Counsellor who specialises in working with couples and has a deep understanding of the Gottman Method. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in counselling and psychology, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the field. Additionally, familiarity with domestic violence issues is highly desirable.

The candidate should have a proven track record of helping couples navigate their relationship challenges and helping them achieve positive outcomes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as the candidate will be working closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Provide child focused and child inclusive approaches in relationship and family counselling
  • Provide counselling to family members involved in family and domestic violence, assisting them to develop and implement family safety plans
  • Work with individuals and families to assist them to manage and enhance their relationships with partners, ex partners, children and stepchildren
  • Work collaboratively with other team members in the provision of 1:1 and group counselling and skills development
  • Conducting Couples Counselling using the Gottman method

What do you need to bring?

Qualifications / Special Conditions

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling combined with extensive experience in family and relationship work (essential)
  • National Police Check / Working with Children Check / Driver’s Licence

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience in working with families and children experiencing conflict, domestic violence and relationship difficulties
  • Proven experience in the ability to engage individuals and families in therapeutic relationship
  • Knowledge of child/ human development, family dynamics, mental health issues, the impact of diverse cultures on family dynamics
