AnglicareSA is seeking an experienced Chef to oversee catering operations at our Residential Aged Care facility in Brompton. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team dedicated to providing high-quality meals that enhance the well-being of our residents.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the efficient execution of facility-based catering services while fostering a culture of excellence, leadership, and continuous improvement.

What will you bring to the role?
- Proven leadership skills – Ability to lead, mentor, and support a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Culinary expertise: Strong background in menu planning, food preparation, and maintaining high catering standards.
- Aged Care & compliance knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP procedures, and dietary requirements in aged care.
- Operational efficiency: Ability to manage food costs, stock control, and kitchen operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Strong communication & teamwork: Ability to collaborate with kitchen staff, site management, and dietitians to meet resident needs.
- Commitment to excellence: A proactive and detail-oriented approach to maintaining high standards in food service and workplace safety.
What will you be doing?
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for:
- Menu Planning & Food Preparation
- Designing and executing high-quality meal plans that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of residents
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting meals to the highest standard
- Ensuring appropriate food storage and rotation to maintain freshness and compliance
- Managing food and labour costs while maintaining efficiency
- Ordering food supplies and monitoring stock levels
- Overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workspaces
- Leading and mentoring catering employees to achieve high performance
- Conducting staff training and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
- Encouraging a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Ensuring resident satisfaction by delivering meals that align with dietary preferences and cultural considerations
- Engaging with residents and staff to improve meal service and dining experience
- Adhering to HACCP guidelines and best practices in food safety and hygiene
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies
- Reporting hazards, risks, and incidents in accordance with organisational policies
What do you need to succeed?
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience working in aged care, healthcare, or high-end hospitality
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards under pressure
- Knowledge of aged care accreditation standards and industry developments.
