Role:

This role undertakes maintenance and commissioning of primary, secondary, and communications equipment in the following:

  • Power Stations – Generator Protection, Motor Protection, Line Differential, Transformer Differential
  • Utility sector - Distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations and networks.
  • Mining Sector – Surface and UG protection schemes together with general HV switchyard works

 Accountabilities:

  • Safely undertake work to the approved standards of quality, cost and time, ensuring safety remains the primary focus at all times
  • Maintain and Fault Find primary and secondary systems in line with Australian standards
  • Continually gain experience Maintaining, Fault Finding and Commissioning other primary and secondary systems
  • Assist with the completion of documents and other reporting systems
  • Comply with safety and environmental systems and procedures
  • Comply with business procedures and systems
  • Liaise and participate in on-site project planning with other relevant stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Planning support teams
  • Provide on-site supervision and instruct other employees on task and safety
  • Lead and coordinate project teams on-site
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

 Skills:

  • Experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Maintenance and Fault Finding of Protection systems to customer network
  • Consistently demonstrated experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Commissioning of Protection systems with low impact to Customers, Infrastructure & Safety
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to review and update electrical schematic and wiring diagrams
  • Technical skills including panel wiring, testing and maintenance of HV electrical and protection systems
  • Competent skills with user programs for test and communications software
  • Advanced Protection Testing Skills in Generator Protection
  • Experienced in Mining, Utilities, Commercial and Private network Protection Testing
  • Ability to write Test Plans for different Protection Testing schemes
  • Ability to use and drive various types of electrical test equipment e.g. Omicron and Doble
  • Advanced knowledge of operation, maintenance and development of the electrical supply system
  • Proven experience in effectively communicating with others both verbally and in writing, including customers
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew
  • Demonstrated highly effective organisational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve technical and practical problems
  • Applied experience in reading and interpreting schematic and wiring diagrams
  • Demonstrated cognitive skills in relation to learning and understanding new skills and concepts
  • Proven leadership skills

 Qualifications:

  • Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Qualification in Protection Systems and studies
  • Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrical)
