The opportunity:

We are seeking a talented Electrical/Electronics Engineer with a passion for electronic design and embedded software to join our Product Engineering team. In this role you will be involved in the development of new products and maintaining our existing product range, associated systems and automated testing environment. The role will assist with resolving product design issues, maintaining production quality and ensuring adherence to legislative requirements.

You will provide electrical/electronic design and embedded software expertise to all aspects of our multi-disciplinary engineering activities. Working closely with other talented engineers, managers, suppliers, production and planning departments, you will strive for development outcomes that are of a very high standard whilst meeting budget, quality and customer specified requirements.

The key areas you will be accountable for are:

  • Develop electronic and embedded software solutions for existing products, systems and applications
  • Implement & review quality systems, product & process improvements
  • Validate and improve designs in existing products, systems and applications
  • Research and propose new tools, methods, techniques and innovations for future development
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary engineering teams for the development of products and application solutions
  • Provide training and trainee mentoring

Education

  1. Essential - Degree qualification in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering
  2. Desirable - Double degree OR a trade qualification

Essential skills & Experience

  • Electronics design
  • Embedded firmware C / C++ development
  • Well-developed personal communication skills with an ability to present technically complex information
  • Knowledge of standards and certification process for hazardous area products Desirable skills & Experience
  •  An enthusiastic electronics hobbyist
  • A talent for diagnosing problems and a knack for fixing the unfixable
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in Python, LUA or other scripting languages
  • Experience writing software in a RTOS environment
  • Device driver and low level code development and debugging
  • Experience working with Linux
