About the Role:
Are you a skilled and passionate technician experienced in Underground Operations? Ampcontrol is excited to offer Underground Field Service Technician opportunities as part of our expanding operations across Queensland. These newly established roles are critical to supporting our growth and delivering exceptional service to our mining clients.
In this dynamic and hands-on position, you’ll work with industry-leading Ampcontrol-manufactured equipment and systems, providing expert technical support, ensuring reliability, and helping our customers achieve success in their underground operations.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Technician, your contributions will include:
- Installing and commissioning electrical equipment in underground mining environments.
- Conducting electrical audits, on-site testing, breakdown assistance, and system commissioning.
- Delivering face-to-face technical support to our clients.
- Collaborating in small teams or independently across diverse mine sites.
- Preparing high-quality service reports promptly after completing site work.

About You:
Your hands-on approach and commitment to safety will set you apart. To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A strong safety-first mindset.
- Expertise with HV electrical equipment and systems, particularly in mining and utilities (including diagnosis and fault-finding).
- Experience with underground coal longwall systems (familiarity with Ampcontrol systems is an advantage).
- Knowledge of IMAC and Gasguard systems.
- A solid understanding of explosion protection techniques.
- Familiarity with Australian Standards, including AS3800, AS4871, and AS2290.
- Exceptional report-writing skills.
- A focused, task-driven approach with sound decision-making abilities.
- A commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Flexibility to travel and work away from home when needed.
Education & Qualifications:
- Electrical trade qualifications (mandatory).
- Hazardous Area Competencies (highly desirable).
- HV Switching Certificate (desirable).
- EEHA certification (desirable).
- Current Coal Board Medical.
- S11 certification.
