The opportunity:

The expansion of Ampcontrol services in Western Australia supports the new company vision to lead the global energy revolution. Ampcontrol is focused on diversifying and growing the business with a key focus on renewable energy manufacturing and supporting our customers in decarbonisation and mine site electrification.

To meet the strategic needs of our business, Ampcontrol are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Utilities or Mining to join our growing team based in Kewdale on a permanent, full-time basis. As part of the Utilities project delivery team, you will contribute to and lead detailed electrical designs in a wide range of areas such as solar hybrid systems, DC critical power, renewable stand-alone power systems, BESS, EV chargers, switch rooms, transformers, and other innovative projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering design and analysis, actively recommending changes to project scopes and costs to optimise engineering outcomes against a commercial business case.
  • Supporting the coordination of projects in accordance with the relevant procedures to ensure the job is completed on time, under budget, and to the mutual satisfaction of client and company.
  • Providing guidance and support to our engineering team and help drive efficiency.
  • Analyse reports, drawings, schedules, tests, and other data to plan and deliver work.
  • Ensure the delivery of electrical engineering services related to customer requirements such as consulting, design, testing, maintenance, installation, and commissioning.
  • Participate in project/customer meetings as required and act as the Ampcontrol representative in all matters associated with the assigned project.

What are we looking for from you?

Your passion for re-imagining problems and continuous learning to help shape the future coupled will be complemented by the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  •  8+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on utility infrastructure (power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy).
  • Proficiency in power system analysis tools (eg. ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Experience with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PowerTools, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, electrical grid operations, and energy management systems.
  • Experience in managing or leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex electrical engineering problems.
