The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Panel Beater to join the team at Wales Bus, Smithfield.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged trucks, ensuring that they are returned to their original condition.

Role responsibilities

  • Check received parts are correct and for defects.
  • Removing, repairing or replacing damaged panels, frames, and other components.
  • Using various tools and techniques to shape, cut, and weld metal panels.
  • Ensuring that all work performed meets industry and safety standards.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and repair techniques.
  • Disassemble vehicle as per Job Sheet.
  • Repair vehicle as per the Repair Method, OEM standards and in accordance with Estimate and Job Sheet.
  • Reassemble vehicle.
  • Handle all vehicles with due care and attention.
  • Handle all company tools and equipment with due care and attention ensuring they remain safe, clean and in a workable condition.
  • Adhere to our OH&S policy including PPE.

Does this sound like you?

  • Experienced and Qualified Panel Beater (Essential)
  • Proficiency in metal shaping, welding, and fabrication techniques specific to heavy vehicles.
  • Solid understanding of rust treatment, frame alignment, and structural repair principles.
  • Familiarity with body filler application, sanding, and surface preparation for paint.
  • Effective communication skills for team collaboration and customer interactions.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure precise and high-quality repairs.
  • Commitment to safety practices and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
