  • Fixed Term – 12 month contract – with possibility to extend

The Department

Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials (MASC Trials) is Australia and New Zealand’s collaborative trials group specialising in investigator-initiated melanoma and skin cancer research. Working with leading researchers and institutions locally and around the globe, MASC Trials develops, conducts, and publishes research and clinical trials that improve melanoma and skin cancer outcomes.

MASC Trials is a registered not for profit research organisation, and has an academic affiliation with Monash University, with a dedicated department supporting our research activities, the MASC Research Centre.

MASC Trials manages a diverse growing portfolio of research in the prevention, early detection and treatment of melanoma and skin cancer, including early to late phase clinical trials. This is a dynamic organisation with global reach and a strong track-record of developing, managing and delivering research that improves outcomes in patients affected by melanoma and skin cancer.

The Role

MASC Trials is seeking a motivated Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA) with sound administrative and excellent organisational skills to undertake a range of activities to provide operational support to all team members for studies in the MASC Trials’ clinical trial portfolio.

The CTA will be required to ensure effective collaboration and team work in the clinical trial setting as well as active contribution to the broader aims of MASC Trials.

This role requires excellent communication skills to manage relationships with MASC Trials members and researchers, clinicians, clinical trial staff, funders and university representatives both within and outside of the organisation and colleagues.

The role requires to take initiative and operate independently and within a team.

This position will work under the supervision of the Research Manager and assist other staff members, as delegated by the Research Manager.

Skills and Experience

Essential

    • Relevant undergraduate degree in health sciences or related field (or an equivalent combination of relevant research experience and/or education/training)
    • Previous experience in research administration or clinical trial experience
    • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
    • Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team
    • Willing to learn, flexible approach in dealing with change
