The Department
The Dermatology Department at Alfred Health is an outpatient and consult based specialty and provides treatment of all skin disorders, including severe cutaneous adverse reactions, inflammatory and autoimmune skin disease, non-melanoma skin cancers as well as skin assessments including for immunocompromised and transplant patients.  The unit provides six subspecialised and general outpatient clinics per week, 24/7 JMO and VMO on call service for Alfred Health, an active consult service for inpatients and ED patients. Dermatology forms part of the interdisciplinary Victorian Melanoma Service, and participates in interdisciplinary patient management as part of the Adverse Drug Reaction Committee, Dermatology Rheumatology MDM, Immunotoxicity MDM, Dermatology-Pathology MDM.  The Dermatology Department provides the formalised Dermatology training accredited by the Australasian College of Dermatologists, JMO and University student training in Dermatology. With the rapidly evolving treatment landscape in Dermatology, initiation and maintenance of biologic and targeted therapy for Dermatology patients forms a large part of the clinical service. The Dermatology Department has an active Research Unit with commercially sponsored and investigator initiated collaborative trials, with 15 currently open. 

The Role

The Personal Assistant to the Director of Dermatology is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to the Director. The incumbent will need to be able to work autonomously and ensure they are able to manage their time effectively to meet expected timelines. High level of accuracy and attention to detail is required. It is a busy environment, where flexibility is required due to the nature of working in a health organisation with competing demands. The position is the initial contact for enquiries to the Director and requires a high standard of customer service, with high levels of motivation and enthusiasm, with a positive attitude toward work and colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential

  • Demonstrated commitment to high-level customer service skills
  • Strong information technology experience and high-level computer skills with proven experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated understanding or willingness to learn the Alfred IT systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous personal/executive assistance experience, especially in a hospital setting
