DEPARTMENT:

Alfred Health provides a comprehensive range of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Cardiac Heart Failure services to patients with Melbourne and regional Victoria. The Alfred Cath Labs provide care for patients requiring complex Angiography, Pacemaker/Defibrillator insertion, Electrophysiology, Cardiac Biopsy and Right Heart Catheterization. The Alfred Cath Lab also has a large rapidly growing Structural Heart Program including TAVI, Mitra Clip, Paravalvular leak repairs, ASD and VSD repairs as well as Balloon Valvuloplasty. A recent redevelopment of the Cardiac Cath Labs has enabled our service to expand providing  increased access for a larger number of patients. Our bed profile has also expanded to include an 11-bed Cath Lab Day Procedure Unit (DPU) and a Monday-Saturday 24/6 Cardiac Procedure Unit (CPU) with 8 overnight beds and a total of 22-points of care during the day. These areas provide care for pre and post-operative elective cardiac patients attending the Cardiac Cath Lab. There is a large focus on same-day discharge, along with 23-hour models of care and targeted clinical pathways of multi-day care for elective TAVI patients.

POSITION:

The position advertised is for an Associate Nurse Manager in the CPU area only. The Associate Nurse Manager is a member of the nursing leadership team on the unit who assists the Nurse Manager to operationalise the core values of the organisation, and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives.  This role supports  excellence  in  clinical  practice  and  promotes  the  development  of  nurses,  ensuring  the philosophy of nursing and standards of practice are consistently reflected in professional practice and patient care.  Together with the Nurse Manager, the Associate Nurse Manager is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes. The Associate Nurse Manager facilitates timely patient access and flow across the continuum of care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Relevant post-graduate diploma - essential
  • Recent acute clinical nursing background in a relevant health service
