DEPARTMENT:

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership and ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services.

POSITION:

We are looking for a highly motivated senior scientist responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the Histology laboratory. The role is to support the function of the Anatomical Pathology Unit by performing a range of tasks including routine histology tasks, rostering and consumable ordering. The position will also cover staff training and competency, evaluation and introduction of new tests, equipment maintenance troubleshooting and quality assurance ensuring compliance with NATA and NPAAC policies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential Academic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a dedicated B.Sc., or B.Appl.Sci degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Laboratory Medicine.

Essential Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a diagnostic histology laboratory is essential
  • A high degree of technical knowledge in the practices of a histology laboratory and an understanding of pathology laboratory activities and systems
  • Previous supervisory experience will be well regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of laboratory for NATA accreditation.
  • Previous experience must be directly related to the position to be filled and provide particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties required
