The Department

Alfred Health provides acute and subacute clinical care to patients on the wards across 3 campuses: The Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital, and Sandringham Hospital. The Allied Health team includes both Allied Health Practitioners and Allied Health Assistants.

The Role

The AHA Team & Professional Development Lead works closely with the AHA Manager to contribute to the leadership, operational planning and delivery of the AHA education strategy in conjunction with key partners and stakeholders. In addition, the AHA Team & Professional Development Lead role is responsible for supporting the AHA Manager with day-to-day operations of the Multidisciplinary (MDT) AHA team as well as coordinating and supporting the team with AHA student placements. The AHA Team & Professional Development Lead, will work with Allied Health Professionals to create opportunities for interprofessional learning and collaboration, explore innovative educational practices, and identify opportunities for quality improvement activities to ensure AHA practice is enhanced for optimal patient care. Individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services, including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.

Skills and Qualifications Required  

Essential

  • A recognised Certificate IV in Health (Allied Health Assistant) or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time equivalent experience as a grade 3 Allied Health Assistant (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise/mentor AHA grade 2 staff, AHA students and/or work experience students
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, educational theories and best practice

Desirable 

  • Information technology and database management skills including the development of e-learning strategies
