Department Summary

The Alfred Health Outpatients Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a number of services across the organisation, including Specialist Consulting Clinics, GP Liaison Service and the Referral In service. The largest component of these is the Specialist Consulting Clinics which provide scheduled medical, nursing and allied health services to patients. Approximately 1000 patients are treated daily across Alfred Health Specialist Consulting Clinics within surgical, medical and other specialties.

The Deparmtnet of Infectious Diseases is one of the largest and most comprehensive infectious diseases clinical services in the country.  It offers expertise in general infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, hospital-acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance, infection prevention, viral hepatitis, sexually-transmitted infections, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. We have six active clinical units at any one time with a dedicated general infectious diseases inpatient unit, an HIV inpatient unit, a general consultative service, an immunocompromised host consultative service, and an antimicrobial stewardship and ICU-Burns service. One of the premier services provided by the Department is the Victorian State-wide HIV Service which provides a comprehensive program for individuals and populations affected by or infected with HIV in Victoria.  This ranges from acute care and chronic illness management, to health maintenance, prevention and health promotion.  Complications of HIV and antiretroviral therapy, in addition to the myriad of co-morbidities such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, renal impairment, viral hepatitis and liver disease, drug and alcohol related disorders, neurocognitive impairment and psychiatric illness are all managed in a multidisciplinary ambulatory care clinic. 

Position Summary

The Administration supervisor brings approachable leadership, responsiveness and provides professional service to ensure best customer outcomes are delivered. The job will see you;

  • Leading your administration team to deliver best customer outcomes
  • Greeting patients, handling referrals, answering phone calls, and booking patient appointments
  • Ability to plan workflow, prioritise and delegate to meet deadlines

Experience Required

  • Previous supervisor experience within a health setting is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel (foundational)
  • Sound administrative experience - Hospital environment preferred but not essential
  • Ability to plan and prioritise
