The Department

The Digital Health Division supports and maintains ICT across Alfred Health. Services include helpdesk, desktop support, telecommunications (phones, mobiles, pagers), nurse call, security systems, server and network support, application support for enterprise systems, business analysis, project management, IT training, visual communications. Over fifty technical staff support an environment comprising over 4000 network-connected desktop computers and over 200 servers. In addition, IT Services manages the wide area network and data centres for several other health services.

The Role

The position will be working with the VINAH and Billing team on projects and operational/BAU work related to VINAH and Billing.

  1. It requires the applicant to be knowledgeable in current process related to VINAH (Victorian Integrated Non-Admitted Health Dataset) reporting, from data collection through to submission to Department of Human Service. This involves understanding of the front-end applications built to meet VINAH requirements and the method of recording VINAH data in the Cerner Clinical Information System (CIS). This includes changes of approved functions within CIS e.g. changes to the front-end applications, reports, data extracts and any other programming requirement in liaison with the current team.
  2. It requires a good understanding of the outpatient referral flow to support Compensable Patient Billing Projects work with the VINAH and Billing team on project deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Desirable, university degree (equivalent) or higher qualification and work experience with a minimum of 4-5 years (as a guide) 
  • Experience of software concepts and a baseline understanding of relational databases is desirable
  • An understanding of relational database (SQL, CCL) concepts and an ability to work with Cerner configuration tools is desirable
  • Knowledge of software version control concepts, change management concepts and software deployment tools
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills and an ability to follow through on issues to completion
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation will be advantageous
  • A Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team as well as a flexible approach to work
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Desirable
