About the Role
The Practicum Lecturer plays a vital role in the Master and Bachelor of Counselling programs, shaping academic operations, curriculum development, teaching, and assessment. This role ensures students excel in their work placements while fostering strong partnerships with placement organisations.
You will guide students through their practicum experience, offer support, lead supervision webinars, and ensure placement compliance. Additionally, you may contribute to teaching, assessment, and curriculum enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
Work Placement Responsibilities:
- Support students in securing and successfully completing their practicum placements.
- Develop and maintain placement handbooks, webinar materials, and organisation databases.
- Deliver supervision webinars and provide ongoing student consultation.
- Maintain communication with students and agency supervisors to ensure compliance.
Teaching and Assessment Responsibilities (Optional):
- Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, and study materials.
- Provide academic support and encourage student engagement.
- Conduct residential school sessions and assess students.
- Develop assessments and ensure moderation processes are followed.
Subject Development, Evaluation, and Review:
- Ensure subject delivery aligns with approved outlines and accreditation standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning materials, and assessments.
- Participate in course and subject review processes, including assessment moderation.
About You
As a dedicated academic professional, you are passionate about student success and committed to maintaining high academic standards in practicum education. With a strong background in counselling, human services, or a related field, you bring expertise in student supervision, curriculum development, and work-integrated learning.
- A postgraduate qualification (Master’s or PhD) in Counselling, Human Services, or a related discipline.
- Experience in higher education teaching, practicum coordination, and student support.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage students, staff, and industry partners.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain placement partnerships and integrate work-based learning.
