Freelance Manager, Standards & Practices
THE ROLE: Freelance Manager, Standards & Practices
A+E Networks is looking for a Freelance Manager of Standards & Practices to work as part of team reviewing content and making recommendations on matters of sensitivities and taste, working with creative teams, implementing policies and guidelines, determining TV ratings, educating departments on S&P issues, and working as part of the Live Programming S&P team. This position will report to the Senior Director, Standards and Practices, A+E Networks and is currently a two-month project-based assignment.
MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Review newly acquired content for the company’s FAST (Free Ad Supported streaming TV) channel initiative to ensure it meets A+E Network’s S&P guidelines and community acceptability.
- Conduct a reevaluation of A+E Networks archival programming including crime, historical, movies and lifestyle programming to identify any S&P issues that require editing prior to using on FAST channels.
- Communicate content changes with clients, both internal and external, and ensure edits are properly made.
- Assign Television Parental Guideline rating to ensure consistency across the industry.
- Input all tracking notes and ratings into S&P Airtable Database.
- Work with our Global Content Sales department in evaluating and rating programs for sale and distribution in other deals beyond FAST.
- Assist in reviewing original content across networks/platforms when needed.
- Analyze and discuss any S&P issues or current event/social trends with S&P team and Commercial Clearance that may impact programming.
- Conduct research on a variety of subjects that will keep the S&P team up to date on current sensitivities in the culture.
- Collaborate with the Legal Risk, Media Operations and Corporate Social Responsibility teams to supply content disclaimers and end card resources to programs, as necessary.
YOUR STORY
Experience:
- 5+ years reviewing content for standards and practices for either programming and/or advertising or related experience.
- Proven ability to make independent decisions on content.
Requirements/Skills:
- Strong analytical, negotiating and communication skills required.
- Experience demonstrating a keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a good sense of judgment.
- Maturity and professionalism “a must”
- Ability to interact with executives over the phone, email and on video meetings.
- Experience in giving presentations.
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills are needed and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidate must be a team player.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
