Engineer - Process

The role

As the Process Engineer, you are responsible for optimising the performance of the cement mills in order to improve productivity, efficiency, quality and environmental performance while minimising the costs of production.

Responsibilities

• Maintains optimal finish milling performance by optimising mill airflow, 45 micron, surface area and mineral addition control.
• Monitors and maintains the performance of the plant by investigating and troubleshooting production issues and implements appropriate solutions to rectify such problems.
• Drive the identification of process improvement initiatives.
• Provide direction and planning for the execution of and review of down day maintenance.
• Ensure projects for energy reduction initiatives are investigated with the Technical team.
• Provide advice and guidance about day to day process changes required to optimise plant performance.
• Implement initiatives and control the milling processes to optimise campaign strategies.
• Lead the Root Cause Analysis of stoppages and process excursions.
• Review all proposed plant modifications and make recommendations regarding their approval.
• Determine and implement opportunities for improvement in safety, productivity, efficiency, elimination of waste and cost.
• Work with the Sales & Marketing team to investigate product development opportunities.

What you will need to succeed

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent Metallurgical Processing degree.
• Experience in heavy industry processing.
• Experience in cement or lime manufacturing is desirable.
• An enquiring mind and an enthusiasm to learn and lead.
• The ability and desire to work as part of a team.
• 5+ years experience is desirable but not essential.
