The role

The Financial Accountant provides financial support, information and analysis to the finance business partners and to the wider corporate group and operational divisions.

This role will be assisting in the formulation of budgets, forecast and reporting along with supporting the month end through analysis, journals and accruals for the consolidated group.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Market Street office in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements on offer.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to all safe working and environmental policies & procedures
  • Assist in month end close for the local group; including journals, accrual, cost transfers, reporting and analysis
  • Assist in reporting to the international group that includes monthly to Europe based on IFRS and quarterly GAAP reporting to the US
  • Communicate information to all operating groups, providing clarification and additional information where necessary.
  • Ensure appropriate coding structures are maintained within SAP including taking appropriate action where required to correct
  • Assist in the development of the budget and forecasts in conjunction with the finance business partners
  • Ensuring reporting deadlines are met and compliance with financial procedures are adhered to
  • Drive efficient continuous improvement opportunities into the business, using systems and processes
  • Assist in other ad hoc requirements

What you will need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce
  • CPA or CA membership or currently working towards
  • 2+ years relevant accounting experience including supporting budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, with SAP or ERP system experience preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as ensuring fixed deadlines are met at all times
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a dispersed team and at all levels of the organisation whilst dealing with competing priorities
  • Previous experience within the manufacturing/ mining sector (desirable)
