The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trades Assistant to join the team at Malaga, W.A
Role responsibilities
- Vehicle Dismantling
- Complete daily vehicle hoist inspection
- Assist Dismantler to identify relevant parts to be extracted from various makes and models of vehicles
- Follow standard operating procedures
- Drain all fluids safely ensuring no spillage. Spillages must be cleaned up prior to moving to next task
- Test and clean parts where required
- Keep parts for recycling and put in designated locations: batteries, tyres, catalytic converters, wiring etc
- Recycling of core stock
- Record activity on dismantling sheets as required
- Clean the dismantling area in preparation for the next vehicle
- Maintain tools as required
Vehicle dismantlers may perform the following tasks:
- Use hand and power tools to remove panels, bumper bars, steering wheels, seats and other reusable body parts
- Assist Dismantler to disassemble engines, transmission systems, electrical components, wheels, brakes and other parts which can then be placed into stock or sold
- Clean, inspect, test and organise parts so that they are ready for resale
- Tag parts for inventory or shipping
- Move vehicle body parts using a forklift or crane
- Comply with all Environmental Protection Authority and state regulations for gases and hazardous material disposal
- Remove single items for sales orders
- Transport vehicles to a hoist
- Strap engines and transmissions on pallets for transport and keeping a clean and orderly work area
- Read and/or complete relevant documentation. e.g., a dismantling report which itemises the parts to be removed, tagged and checked
- Other tasks as required
