About the role

The role involves both coordinating field placements for early childhood education and care (ECEC) and providing excellent teaching at AE. You will be pivotal in ensuring students are prepared academically and practically for their placements. This position demands proactive compliance with regulatory framework, enhancing student engagement, and ensuring their academic success through effective placements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and develop current, relevant material for fieldwork placements
  • Oversee the assessment process to align with learning outcomes, ensuring the quality and compliance of the program with AE standards and regulatory bodies
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching quality and stay current with emerging practices
  • Deliver engaging placement induction programs and ensure students meet the requirements for successful placement experiences
  • Incorporate feedback from early childhood services to enhance the onboarding process
  • Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures; Actively participate in the investigation and resolution of incidents.
  • Report incidents to the Course Coordinator/ HOD including potential breach of Code of Conduct/policies, Health & Safety risks

About You

Essential

  • Post-graduate qualification in early childhood education, teaching birth to 5 or teaching birth to 8.
  • At least two years post-qualification relevant sector experience
  • Willingness to undertake at least 20 hours of continued professional development each year
  • High professional and ethical conduct, resilience, and a collaborative approach to both teaching and sector engagement
  • A strong understanding of theory and practice in the relevant discipline
  • Please note that a valid Working with Children Check is a requirement for this role. If you are successfully hired for this role, you must obtain a check and you will be reimbursed. If you have a VIT Provisional Registration or Teacher Registration, you would not require a separate WWCC.

Desirable

  • Experience in fieldwork placement coordination and academic program delivery
  • Relevant tertiary teaching experience with demonstrated achievements and results
  • Ability to improve teaching methods and use technology or other innovative strategies for teaching and learning and for engaging students.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to professional collaboration and academic administration.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Completion of a Master’s qualification in relevant areas
