About the Role

The GCHC is an entry pathway for students who wish to enrol in the Master of Social Work. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for the ongoing development, improvement, and delivery of the program, while ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework. You will work to ensure that a high-quality, student-centric experience is provided. In this role, you will be expected to map to the units delivered in program. Staying abreast with current and emerging principles and best practices will play a key part to your success. Working from home during non-teaching hours is an option for this position.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lectures and tutorials to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Health and Community Services Program.
  • Develop and deliver course content that aligns with the program's learning outcomes and standards.
  • Implement innovative teaching methods and pedagogical techniques to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and academic leaders to review and update course content to ensure relevance and alignment with contemporary developments in the field.
  • Ensure that course materials are designed to help students achieve the learning outcomes, including knowledge of relevant disciplines and cognitive skills required for AQF level 8.
  • Design and administer assessments that align with course learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain a rigorous and fair assessment system, including rubrics that meet AQF level 8 standards.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the assessment processes based on student performance and feedback.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities, including scholarship, research, and advanced practice relevant to the discipline and teaching and learning.
  • Stay updated on contemporary developments in the relevant field to ensure currency in course content and teaching methods.


About You

  • Hold qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology or cognate areas at least one level higher than the program's AQF level 8 (or have relevant equivalent experience).
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in health and community services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary developments in the discipline. • Strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and program coordinators.

Desirable

  • Completion, or enrolment in PhD in an area related to the area of teaching is desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary teaching experience with demonstrated teaching achievements and results.
  • The ability to improve teaching methods and the ability and willingness to use technology or other innovative strategies for teaching and learning and for engaging students.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to professional collaborations and academic administration.
  • Experience teaching in an educational setting with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
