As a valued member of our Access Aged Care Billing Team, the Senior Billing Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that billing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with high levels of accuracy.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Billing Officer to join our Access Aged Care Billing Team. This full-time position is ideal for someone with experience in billing, finance, or healthcare who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. The Senior Billing Officer will be responsible for managing the billing process for GP and specialist consultations, liaising with doctors, reviewing and auditing data, and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices. You’ll play a key role in supporting our operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult Billing: Process and manage billing for GP and Specialist consults, ensuring all transactions are accurate and completed on time.
  • Auditing Consults: Review consult data for errors, discrepancies, and compliance with billing guidelines.
  • WIP / Doctor Management: Track and manage outstanding consultations (WIP), ensuring timely follow-up with doctors to resolve any issues.
  • File Work / Medbill Communications: Oversee billing documentation, including accurate record-keeping and correspondence related to Medbill communications.
  • Operational Support: Assist with various tasks to support the operational efficiency and ongoing needs of Access Aged Care.
  • Systems/Processes: Contribute to the development and refinement of billing practices and systems that enhance operational accuracy and efficiency.
  • Customer Queries: Investigate and respond to customer billing queries in a timely and professional manner.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in billing or finance roles.
  • Proven experience in reporting and data analysis to support business decisions.
  • Experience coordinating day-to-day operations and ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Demonstrated involvement in the development or leadership of new processes to improve efficiency.
  • Desirable experience with:
  • Medicare billing processes.
  • Medical billing procedures and practice management systems.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel at a basic level).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on effective stakeholder management.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage competing responsibilities effectively.
  • A high level of attention to detail, especially in billing and reporting.
  • Strong initiative for process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • A compliance-driven mindset with a commitment to maintaining high work standards.
  • Ability to provide accurate data insights through timely reporting.
  • An investigative mindset, with a curiosity to identify issues and suggest meaningful solutions.
  • Ability to work autonomously and apply sound judgment to resolve issues efficiently.
