The Role

The Program Delivery Manager will work within the Infrastructure Development Group (IDG) Partner and Shared Services Team to end-to-end manage AARNet’s strategic-customer projects from feasibility to customer handover. You will be working with other project managers, delivery specialists, and technical specialists to maintain a real-time end-to-end status and forecast, see upcoming issues and support the smooth flow of projects to customer expectations. The Program Delivery Manager will also be responsible for determining and implementing new operational capabilities to manage projects after handover. This will involve working with Operations, Project teams and Engineers to create and document processes, capabilities and enhance existing toolsets.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Management of AARNet’s strategic infrastructure projects, to ensure that customer services are delivered to required schedule and scope. This will include:
  • Ensuring AARNet projects meet client scope requirements and expectations.
  • Coordinating project activities including key interlocks between different teams and business units to ensure timely delivery of customer projects.
  • Managing conflicting project priorities, constraints, and interdependencies.
  • Producing status reports of AARNet’s customer and other strategic projects.
  • Managing the interface between the civil construction and service provisioning teams to ensure delivery of project outcomes. Working with the teams to prioritise customer outcomes, manage risk and resolve issues, escalating as required.
  • Managing the handover process with customers, including inspection and test requirements and reporting.
  • Developing processes to support the operational management of AARNet strategic customers. This will involve working with other teams to operationalise agreed protocols with strategic customers by working cross-functionally to create and enhance processes and toolsets.

Expertise, experience & qualifications

  • Program and/or project management experience relating to telecommunications projects, with a working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Understanding and experience with telco infrastructure deployment processes and requirements.
  • Understanding and experience with telco or network operations processes.
  • Analytics, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including report writing and documentation.
  • Qualification in engineering or related project management, or substantial experience in a similar role.

  • An ability to analyse, problem solve, and prioritise
  • Proficiency using MS, Word, Excel and Project.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and interstate from time to time.
